OUR ASSOCIATION
WHO WE ARE
The Bay View Improvement Association (BVIA) is the name of the body politic and corporate of the State constituted for the owners of cottages, dwellings and other real estate within the locality known as Bay View, in the Town of Milford, CT.
Bay View Improvement Association is a quasi municipality that is chartered by the State of CT and is a special taxing district. There are only 3 beaches in Milford that are chartered by the State: Laurel Beach, Morningside, and Bay View.
The BVIA was incorporated on April 20, 1921 pursuant to a special act by the Connecticut General Assembly [House Bill No. 347] [134] and is governed by its amended charter dated June 29, 1957 and its bylaws which have been amended from time to time by a majority vote of its members.
All persons owning real estate within Bay View automatically become members of the BVIA and are required to pay annual dues. Non-payment could result in a lien against the home. Only persons owning real estate within the association limits may become members.
The BVIA primarily functions as a beach association with the goal of protecting the community assets which include approximately 600 feet of open beach above the high water line and green space between Bayshore Drive and Bayshore Extension.
